AIOU academic council reposes confidence in leadership of Dr. Nazir Sangi

Islamabad – 29th August 2013: The highest statuary body of the Allama Iqbal Open University at their meeting on Thursday passed a unanimous resolution, reposing full confidence in the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi and applauded his work for promoting quality education in the country, particularly in the remote regions.
The meeting attended by the Deans and Chairmen of the various academic and servicing departments particularly appreciated his contribution in enhancing the students’ enrollment which has now reached to 1.3 million and expanding the University’s infrastructure network to every nook and corner of the country in a short span of time.
The meeting also expressed satisfaction over the productive role of the University’s Registrar Department. The academic council discussed eighteen- point agenda relating to the development of research and technology based education. It also adopted a future plan of action to introduce socio-economic education and fight-out illiteracy at the grass-root level.
The meeting hoped that the newly introduced educational projects like establishment of open schools will contribute a lot to educate millions of drop-outs male and female children. It also appreciated the recently announced ten schemes for providing financial support to the poor and needy students. It was hoped that Rs. 100 million allocated by the VC for students support fund will help meeting the educational needs of the deserving students, including those were affected during the recent floods.
The meeting participants including University’s Deans, Prof. Dr. Nowshad Khan, Prof. Dr. Tansveer-uz-Zaman, Prof. Dr. Rashid A Naeem, Prof. Dr. Ali Asghar Cheshti and Registrar, Muhammad Bashir Chaudhry paid tributes to Dr. Sangi for his meritorious services. They hoped the University will further grow under his leadership. Those who also attended included Council’s members prominent Journalist, Qazi Asad Abid, Prof. Asghari Maqsood (NUST) and Dr. Taj, Dean of Peshawar University.
