AIOU to gives 50% fee concession to the students of the country’s remote regions Islamabad – 4th September 2013 The Vice-Chancellor, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi said that students of the country’s remote regions where new campuses are being established will be given 50% concession in their fee.Besides giving the financial support to such students, other necessary measures are also being taken to improve the literacy rate particularly in the far-flung areas, he said while inaugurating the newly constructed building of AIOU at Khuda-Abad (Dadu). New building comprises the computer lab, a library, video-conferencing system, laboratory, examination and workshop room. The building is situated at Central location where Indus Highway, closed to GT road and Railway Station. It will facilitate thousands of students to avail the education facilities at their door-step. He said the 50% fee concession will be available for the students of Khuda-Abad.
The Vice-Chancellor said that an allocation of hundred million has also been made to support the poor and deserving students particularly those living in rural areas, through scholarships and fee concessions. He further said at the level of Matric, socio-economic based courses have been introduced in order to prepare the youth for taking part in the over-all country’s development. Eminent local social leaders including Aman-Ullah Sheikh also addressed the inaugural ceremony. Representative of the Sindh Graduate Association, NGO announced on the occasion to support the AIOU for its efforts spreading education particularly in the Sindh’s deprived regions.
